Thay are pretty poor cars with abysmal underpowered engines. The 1.8 isn't too bad but they still don't drive particularly well. And that's coming from someone who generally likes Fords.

Buy a Mondeo, you won't regret changing your mind.

£650 cash is still too much for that car!!

As mentioned, it'll be horribly under powered but it has got a full years MOT and FSH... Depends on the overall condition of the car.

Unless it is absolutely mint, walk away! Look for a chavalier or something similar!

To be honest, She already has a Mondeo, which i will have when she gets this new car. She doesnt like it much, she finds it too hard to park ETC.

She's just a normal woman, doesnt overtake etc so as long as the car goes along nicely it will be fine, plus she will never really load it with and lugage etc. and it won't see a motorway.

It really needs to be a Ford, Originally i looked for a Fiesta, but getting one of those for under a grand is impossible!

So I'm thinking about an Escort, Surely for a 30 year old woman to drive around town it shall be ok?

Fiesta 1.25 Ghia or Ghia X. They come up for £1000 ish for a P-S reg quite frequently.

This has to be one of the more expensive times of year for buying a second hand car mind.

i've got a 1.6 escort, fine for going round town.
Yes, but a Fiesta or Mondeo is a better car.

Seeing as the Mondeo is too big then I would opt for the Fiesta.
