trying to get onto live..

hey

Ok just tried to get onto xbox live for the first time. Im crap with netwroking etc so bear with me. I plugged the ethernet cable from the 360 to my pc. So far the xbox live test passes network adapter and ip address but is getting stuck on the DNS? just fails on that. What should i do?

You need to share your internet connection on the PC.

Pah this is ******* *******!!! God why do they have to make it so hard? I cant be arsed with xbox live now. Ill just take it to a IT place or something and get them to sort it for me

you will be ripped off. You need to manually set your address and IP in the console. Alternatively get a router instead, then its as easy as plugging it in. A few of OCUK's competitors do budget 4 port adsl routers for about £15

Get a router - it'll sort it all for you.
It is not hard it is just new to you that's all.

Just buy a router, ICS is a complete farce imo. Its really not difficult to setup with a router.

how is your internet connected to your pc?

if its via an ethernet, you can just go to network propeties, highlight the 2 network connections (one being your internet and the other being the xbox), right click and then bridge connections

though chances are your connecting via USB

I like linksys personally.
I use a wireless WRT54G model.
