Trying to get to grips with vdroop.

system specs
Q6600 GO OEM lapped, running at 9x400 = 3600
Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme, lapped and cooled by a Noctua.
Abit IP35 Pro
4x1gb Geil Low Latency at 5 5 5 18 2.1v
Its Priming small fft's and the average temp across the cores is 71.
No crashes/BSOD's but 1 core fails after about 4 hours, the others carry on OK.

The cpu core voltage in BIOS is set at 1.47
Northbridge, southbridge and CPU VTT are all upped by 1 notch.

In CPUZ the the cpu volts are shown as 1.37. (core temp volts have never budged from 1.25!)
So my question is: does the CPUZ figure represent the actual voltage going through the cpu?

from what I have read you can measure the droop more accuratly using a multimeter, but for all intent and purpose CPUZ is accurate enough.
 
so the vdroop at idle is 0.03 volts and 0.10 volts under max. load. What is the significance of this, can it be corrected and is it ultimately "dangerous" ?
 
core temp shows the VID, which is the chips recommended volts for stock speed, ignore it for now, but the lower the better.

For my 3.6 overclock, i needed the load volts to be 1.39 or above. at idle, the volts go back up to 1.44-1.45, in the bios I'm using 1.4875.

try upping the northbridge by .2 from stock, and the vcore a tad more. but one at a time, so you know which change worked.

If your load temperatures are at 71, you might want to think of backing off your overlcock if they get any higher

When you say "which change worked" are you referring to the vdroop or the prime95 failure? I'm feeling a bit "devil may care" about load temps, as over Christmas I hope to try out a Titan Amanda.

Also, when you say "load volts" do you mean the volts showing in CPUZ?
 
1 - prime95 failure, yes

2- load volts through CPUZ yes

vdroop just happens, theres not much you can do about it without modding your motherboard, which I'm no prepared to do, as long as your temps are ok, you should be ok
