Hi all. Upgrading some bits in my machine and I'm trying to find out if my cooler will work with a 1155 socket. It's on a 775 board, a Asus P5Q Pro at the moment. I bought it years ago from the MM as just the bare cooler

Cheers

It is an NH-U12P, and as far as I'm aware it will not fit socket 1155. I have one in a drawer somewhere.

It is also fairly useless without the proprietary clips to hold the fans on, one of mine is missing, making it even more useless. You could hold fans on with cable ties though. :p

Or use some rigid wire, around 1mm diameter, then bend it into shape like this:

Just take proper measurements, so there is no vibration from fan, or add some anti vibration pads in the corners.

cheers guys. its ok I have got the metal clips, just need a bracket. Have contacted Noctua, might be awkward as I don't have proof of purchase for the cooler or the mobo :/

Contact Noctua, they have very reputable customer service. They'll probably have no problem shipping clips and mounting hardware to you.
