I currently have a GTX 670 installed in my computer and I am attempting to install a 970, when I put the new card in and turn my computer on, I see the motherboard splash screen for about 2 minutes and then I have a black screen with a flashing white dash in the corner, this just stays there until I turn the computer off.

So far I have been recommended a bios update but I am nervous about it and I am not exactly sure how to do it.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Pop your 670 back in, go to your MOBO website and follow the instructions on updating the BIOS. Very simple really :)

Yup - 99% certain you need the latest (or at least newer) bios for your motherboard.
