I've got my main desktop, I want to use a USB flash drive with 4gb capacity to install Ubuntu onto the other computer which has no OS at the moment.

I've tried using unetbootin, universal usb installer and YUMI but none of them seem to work, every time I end up with
"bootmgr is missing
press ctrl-alt-del to restart"

can someone help me with this? The system I'm trying to install it on is an old Dell machine with the Dell bios revision 1.1.8, would I need to update the bios in order to get this to work?

Make sure all partitions have been removed on the USB stick, then create one and format it FAT32. Set it active with fdisk.

Then run unetbootin. :)

I've had this before, sometimes unetbootin works and others pendrivelinux works. If neither work then as daft as it sounds, download the iso again and try with that.
