Hi.

Well I downloaded Ubuntu 7.10 AMD64 as thats the version for even intel 64bit cpu's too, the thing is when I boot the cd and click install Linux a loading window comes up saying loading kernal or something, then screen goes blank and pc reboots.

Any ideas whats wrong?

No, I'm not sure that it's that, nor would I say that it's a no-go. There are ways around the problem and we haven't tested anything.

First off, what happens when you use the safe graphics option?

You might try the "alternative" installer since it won't care about your GPU. You'd then get the system installed before you have to sort out the graphics issues, if that is the problem.

Safe graphics option does the same thing. Alternative installer means another download does it not?

Send me your address to my trust e-mail addy and I'll see what I can do, I usually have a CD or two hanging around spare. My workstation at work requires the alternative install CD due to some other ATI related quirk.

Thanks I'll send my info right away :).

Thanks both of you for offering to send me a cd :)
