Trying to load winxp and it cant find a boot device

hi,

trying to get winxp loaded, booting off cd and it goes through the copying files stage then reboots the pc fine.

problem is that as it then attempts to start the pc to continue the setup it says that it cant locate a boot device, or something similar.


anybody any ideas what may be wrong ??

Check your bios is set to boot from the correct hard drive.

Got any USB thumb drives / hard drives plugged in?

Is it a SATA/SCSI drive? If so have you pressed F6 during setup to install the required drivers?

just got dvd/cd drive and the hard drive im trying to installed onto (IDE) plugged in nothing else.

tried with a sata drive i had but the winxp install wouldnt detect that at all let alone install onto it , do i have to install drivers to get winxp to recognise the sata drive ?
