Hi folks,

Couple of years ago I bought memory when I upgraded my whole system. I bought 16gb (2x8gb) and I'd like to take it up to 32gb.
I bought:

Crucial Ballistix BL2K8G36C16U4B 3600 MHz, DDR4, DRAM, Desktop Gaming Memory Kit, 16GB (8GB x2), CL16

but it doesn't seem to be available (unless I'm just missing it) so can I get a bit of advice on what to get that would match or if I'm better just getting 2x16gb?
The motherboard is an MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK

Thanks

The issue you have is all the associated timings that will differ between different manufacture sticks and what chips they use. It’s pot luck, it might work ok. My advice would be to get 2 x16GB for not much more money

Ballistix has been discontinued I'm afraid.

What is your CPU?

Yeah, it's this kind of thing I was unsure about, I don't know much about RAM so I figured it was best to check. I really should learn to figure out how much RAM I need, and then double it

So would I maybe be ok with something like this which is only a tenner more than the 2x8gb

They will be fine and guaranteed to work. I have used these in the past.

Ballistix use to be some of the best memory around. Samsung B-Die is the best if you want to play but is more expensive.

This is a good rule to follow going forward. It’s what I do, assuming memory isn’t stupidly expensive. Memory prices are good at the moment. Try to keep it to two sticks.
