Here's the build I have at the moment.

Intel Core 2 Duo E2140 "LGA775 Conroe" 1.60GHz (800FSB) - Retail

Abit IP-95 Micro ATX (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

2GB DDR2 PC2-4200

OcUK ATI Radeon HD 3850 Pro 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

500W Huntkey PSU

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler

I have caved into pressure and decided to try my hand at OCing this puppy.

I've checked out a few tuts and things and gone into my BIOS. I have the option to change my FSB from 200mhz up to 350mhz.
My CPU multiplier is 8 at the moment (and can't be changed), so my CPU is at 1.6ghz at the moment.

As I raise my FSB, this will affect the memory too wont it, but I dont have the option to change the RAM divider.

All i have is this option DRAM frequency, which can be set to auto, 333mhz, 400mhz or 533mhz

but I'm using PC2-4200 RAM so shouldnt this be 266mhz?

As I'm sure you've accertained I'm a complete overclocking noob, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
:)

Ok, first thing id so is up the FSB to 266Mhz ( 1066 on some boards ). This is a speed your mobo should easily handle and give you 2.1Ghz.

If you then set your RAM to run 1:2 ( option in the BIOS ) then it will be at its proper speed of 533Mhz

Any more of an overclock is going to be held back by your current memory

hmmm I can't seem to find that RAM 1:2 setting in my BIOS.

I have DRAM Timing
which consists of DRAM Cas Latency 3.0/5, 2.5/4, 2.0/3, 1.5/2
and DRAM Bank Interleave 2-way, 4-way, 8-way or disabled

There don't seem to be many options at all in my BIOS :(

any ideas what it could be?

Short of buying a new motherboard and ram you have'nt much chance of getting the best out of your E2140. This is the problem with bargain basement motherboards. It's a shame as the E2000 series are good clockers. I have had a E2140 prime stable at 3.6Ghz!!

wow so overclocking just aint possible on this particular motherboard, that sucks :(

I don't suppose anyone can suggest a good micro ATX motherboard for the E2140 that would overclock well, I may have to invest in one in the future if it's not too much

I remember the reason I went with this mobo in the first place was that it was micro ATX and I didnt have a lot of choice
