Hi all I am trying to re-install my laptop with a fresh copy of XP but I booted from the CD and when I was on the partition page I deleted partition C & E and now the laptop wont recognise the CD how can I get round this ?

CD-ROM's are universal devices, which can be accessed by any recent BIOS, especially the built in one on a laptop for this very reason.

can you get into the bios? what does it say?

Was the CD a recovery or full version of Windows?

Also, give the BIOS a reset if it's not recognising the CD drive, could clear that up.

go into the bios and set the cd drive as 1st boot device, if it doesn't work, then you've got a duff disc or duff drive

try the disc in another machine before replacing the drive
