Trying to trim an AVI file, need a prog!

I've got a handful of video clips that i'm trying to burn to a DVD (poxy lappy drive is full!), but it runs over by about 100mb, each clip has a couple of seconds of blue screen at the start and end (my skills with the play/record buttons capturing vhs to my pc suck!)

I've looked at a couple of progs i found via google, but they only offer a 60 second trial and i'd rather not cough out for a program without knowing it works

Looked at the Window Movie Maker, it's fine for selecting the bits i want, but it wants to hash up the resolution and bitrate of the video before it saves, which sort of defeats the object!

HELP! (please!)

Brilliant cheers, think i need to practice with that one, i just turned the first 3 minutes of video into a 1.2gig file and ran out of space, oops!

Cheers, i didn't change the output over to unmodified, it was trying to recode it to a different codec which was a 'touch' bigger than the xvid i'm using.

vdub is best, use direct stream copy and use the markers to select an area to remove and either cut or delete it then save
