Hi guys,

I'm having a bit of trouble updating my BIOS at the very first step - getting the bios file onto a bootable floppy!

I'm running Vista Home Premium 64bit and am formatting the 1.44Mb Floppy by RH clicking on the floppy in My Computer, selecting format then ticking "Create MS DOS startup disk". Once it's formatted there's roughly 880k free space (the rest is taken up with what I assume are the boot up files).

Now comes the problem - I've extracted the ABIT bios file and the BIN file weighs in at a whapping 1Mb. There's not enough room to put it on the floppy

Am I doing something wrong?

Cheers,

Jed.

Yep :p

If you go to ABit site where you download the bios you will see a link to a program to make a bootable floppy. Windows xp and vista made bootable floppies don't leave enough space to fit the bios update and programs :(

Alternatively use a bootable usb stick.

Hope that helps

Sorry I thought it was on there....it's not, it's on the forums as a sticky

I used ABit utility to do it but I never got it from the forum as I would have just deleted some files as the first method suggests so I guess it is on Abit's site somewhere, maybe in FAQ in bios perhaps but anyway that doesn't matter, you have your answer. Good luck!

I found that just before you posted :-)

Right then - I've put the bios files on a second disk, booted with the first and then run the awdflash file. It went through the process of writing to the bios and then said to press F1 to continue. I pressed F1 and my system rebooted but isn't loading at all. Power is on, fans running but a blank screen ... any thoughts?
