Trying to upgrade ram problems

friends Toshiba Qosomis G25-AV513

Have removed the 2 x 512 sticks and replaced with 2 x 2 gig sticks and the laptop wont work.

Have tried the sticks in my Acer laptop and no problems and also tried the 2 x 512 sticks in my laptop and all works ok.

These are the new ones I got from OC:

The ones in the laptop are: Hynix 512MB 2Rx16 PC2-4200S-444-12

Max RAM Supported 2.0 GB.

Try removing one of the memory sticks.

Tried that all it does is beep.

On another note can not get SSD to work in it either (as a secondary drive yes no problems) everytime i try to install Windows it can not find a drive. But it is in the bios

I guess the beep will be in response to the RAM, l can on surmise the RAM is not compatible with that make of laptop :eek:

Wrt the SSD, l take it you have removed the old hdd and slotted the SSD in as the only drive?

The bios may not be able to see it, try and load default/optimized bios settings and try again.

After that l am all out of ideas.

The bios is set for raid. I can not turn it off for the life of me. Everytime I try to install windows from CD to new HD it can not find any hard drives. Drive is set to jbod but it still says raid in the bios

It will only take 1GB in each slot, it's too old for 2GB sticks, also it's only SATA 1 so might not like the SSD.
