What's the most efficient way to watch movie files downloaded from a Foxsat Satellite box which have the extension .ts?

Platform: Vista 64

Quoted from AVforums - '.ts files
i have just downloaded windows media player 10 beta from microsoft...it does play .ts files well ......i know most people use VLC player.....i have in past....but its worth having a look....i like it '

I didn't realize that they were quite popular, I guess WMP with the correct codecs will do it then. Vista Codec Park by Shark007 does pretty much everything.

You could convert them to mkv if you wish ( does not re-encode) so
it goes really quickly

I convert my BBC HD captures directly to mkv using haali (mkv splitter has utils with it)
c:\Program Files\Haali\MatroskaSplitter\dsmux.exe %DESTFILE% %SOURCEFILE%;0.ar=16x9;0.lang=und;1.lang=eng
%DESTFILE% %SOURCEFILE% are fully qualified paths to the files

I also find it removes none important re-sync info and makes the file about 15% smaller

TS (Transport Stream) is quite a common recording format, a lot of PVRs have the option to record to this format.
