I've just pinched a couple of Tt fans from my old Tt Soprano case as they're quieter (at 12v) than the Lian Li standard fans that came with my PC-7.

However, I'm unable to drop the voltage/fan speed. I'm assuming the little 3 pin connector going to my mobo should allow me to adjust the voltage.

With these, there's a single yellow cable going to the mobo on the 3 pin connector and the power is coming from standard 4 pin cables (i.e. IDE HDD power).

The fans work without the yellow cable plugged into the mobo, so I'm thinking they must have another function - to adjust the voltage, but I can't get it to budge :(

I think the yellow lead to the mobo is just so the sensors show up fan speed in bios and other programs so you can set alarms if they stop working.

If the fan isn't getting the power from the mobo then you won't be able to drop it to 7v.

Not sure, but think you can get a 4pin to 3pin convertor but somebody else more knowledgable than me will help you out on that. :)

Ack! Well there goes that idea then :p

I'll probably end up looking to get some new ones anyway, cheers!
