Tt Big Typhoon

Design wise, as with any large heat pipe cooler - it has potential, and very good potential at that.

I have one cooling the processor in the specs in my signature, only after I spent an age on lapping it!

I have two of these - But personally found that I had better results with an Arctic Freezer pro.

I've got one as well. Very quiet. I've got a quick question for your guys: did you install your bt with the fan blowing air away from or towards the cpu?

1.52v !! what temps are you getting?

Trying to get my 146 to 3ghz. Load temps at 2.75ghz are 44. you reckon it's safe to go higher?

Cheers

I load at about 52/53, used to go above 60 because the big typhoon was shapped like a banana on its base.

Lapping sorted that out, and my IHS is removed too as it had poor contact.

I had one of these before replacing it with Thermaltake's own BigWater LCS setup.

Very good overall, but as mentioned, it is an absolute biatch to install. I came close to damadging a brand new £120 motherboard when installing mine.

However, scares aside it does perform one, and I stuck a Silverstone fan on it for better performance. The W/C I have now only betters it by a couple of degree's at best...

Have one on mine - Opty 165 @ 2.6, goes to about 50 on full load, mobo won't let me go any higher :(

Made a massive difference from my old Zalman cooler :D

And like above, PITA to install. To be fair, I haven't tried any other coolers with this chip as went on a recommendation, but currently can't fault it and it's very quiet.

You won't be disappointed with it.

cheers for the feedback guys :D im still running witht he stock amd h/s til i find the am2 compatible bigtyp lol tho i do have a big typhoon to replace my volcano 12 on my spare system

:) guess who's priming (18hrs so far) at 3ghz with his 146 :) only gettin load temps of 47 with 1.52v.

I have one more question though...what's the performance hit running ram at 2T instead of 1T?

I've currently got my ram 1:1 (300mhz) at 2.5 -4-4-10 2T but can run it on a divider (245mhz ish i think) at 2.5-3-3-8 1T. Any significant performace difference either way?

Cheers.

The only way to find out is to test.

If you do initial testing with SuperPi, which is memory sensitive, you'll see which one is better.

Then run Aquamark3 and 3Dmark2001, as these are now good 'system' benches that will test your RAM speed as much as your CPU and GPU.
