My P4 runs very hot at idle (50 C average), so when I play games it gets hot and the fan spins wildly. I'm looking to get a new CPU cooler, but does anyone know if the current range of LGA775 coolers will work for Conroe too? If not then it's no big deal.

thermaltake blue orb IIs are very good coolers, i own one but i was forced to swap to zalman CNPS9500 when i got my redline series ram, cause the blue orb is utterly enormous and hangs over ram slots, sometimes even causing the ram to lean in its socket if it has a high heatspreader like most mushkin ram, i can also say they are quiet, read a few reviews where they claimed when the fan speeded up it sounded loud but as far as i could tell when i was using it there consistantly quiet and i have no idea where these reviewers are getting this garbage

Edit: heres a link to a picture of how big the blue orb II actually is mounted on a motherboard http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b24/gashinator_666/Pictures/HPIM0219.jpg

When I was buying the Thermaltake Blue Orb II I found this review which shows that it is just as good as a Arctic Freezer 64 pro which is one of the best value for money hsf's to go for.

This is a very good cooler but as gashman said it is very big but doesn't cause me any problems with my board.
The fan spins at 1700rpm at idle and load which makes it very quiet.

what sort of ram you using? the only reason it caused issues for me is cause mushkin redline has weird heatspreaders that are bit higher than most, thats what casued the issues

another issue i had is i found it a right pain to install for some reason, it took so much force on screwdriver to get the screws into where there meant to go, maybe just me like

it comes with a little sachet of white goop, but i used AS5 but the provided stuff should be alright if you don't have any AS hanging about, only other problem i noticed was the weird fixing style proved testing to say the least, though reviews say installation is simple...
