I thought that tubing would be fine.

Not surprised it went on easier than your 7/16" tubing, because its marginally bigger. A lot of people use 7/16" ID tubing to go on 1/2" barbs so that it is extra tight, it just takes a bit of effort getting it on. However, since you have compression fittings, you don't really gain anything from using smaller tubing than your fitting as long as your OD match too. The point of compression fittings is that they are easier to put on and just as safe.

Im 99.9% sure your tubing is fine. Did you soak the tubing in warm water before you fitted it? I dont soak my tubing in warm water and it goes on super easily to my compressions.

Sorry I meant to say previously I had 7/16 compression fittings and 7/16 tubing, this tubing took a lot to get it on, then I changed to 1/2 compression fittings and 1/2 tubing, this doesn't take a lot to get on?

I've not used warm water for either setup.

Thanks for your reply :)
