So watching grand tour.

Clarkson wears his shirt tucked in, May wears his lose.

For the middle aged gentleman with a bit of a belly which is the preferable option?

GD, give me your opinion!

Depends on the style of shirt, some longer shirts can look pretty silly if not tucked in... unless you're going for some sort of 90s pub look? In which case you might as well go the whole hog and get one in fluorescent orange or green or something!

I wouldn't tuck in a polo shirt or t-shirt either - I'd assumed OP was talking about collared, long sleeve shirts?

The more formal ones tend to be designed to be tucked in and look a bit silly untucked, some less formal ones are often made a bit shorter and don't look silly untucked.

An issue close to my own heart though I'm only 31 :(

Am pretty tall and reasonably slim built (though the belly is growing). Quite often buy nice shirts only to find they don't stay tucked in. Doesn't help that I'm fairly active at work - office job but I move boxes and mount TVs a lot.

So... In when possible? I don't mind out when wearing casual trousers but suit trousers feel funny with the shirt untucked.

I had assumed out trend correlates with obesity epedemic as postulated ... what do the japanese or usa do in comparison ?

My opinion is as follows, you need to fight the urge to start pathetic threads.

Like my old scoutmaster used to say, I know it hurts, but you'll grow to like it.

Have you fought the urge yourself yet? Not creating similar threads, like the 'how much do you pay for your haircut?' thread for example?

Why do people have to be an ass just for the sake of it?

As I have got older, my office wear (suit) has started to blur into my casual wear (minus the tie but still including jacket and sometimes a waist coat).

My shirts are always tucked in, whatever the situation.

A better thread would be: Who still wears a tie? I do, but answers to that question will be more varied.

6 days a week I have a tie on.
