Hi,

I haven't done a new build for 5 yrs and things have moved on. I am looking at an ASUS TUF X570 board and Ryzen 7 3700X CPU, have spent 2 days looking at memory and still struggling.

I need a min of 32GB RAM for heavy duty Astro-photography processing and may add another 32GB at some point - so I'm thinking 2x16GB for now so I can add the same again if needed. I also do some heavy gaming. I have no intention of overclocking.

My short list includes:
  • Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 32GB 3200 MHz AMD Ryzen Tuned DDR4
  • Crucial Ballistix 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3600
  • Corsair VENGEANCE® LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 DRAM 3600MHz C18
I'm trying to keep RAM under £200 and could do with advice on the following:
  • I want the fastest RAM for price and am aiming for 3600 but would 3200 be much different?
  • The Ballistik 3600 i currently top of my list - but only because it is CAS16 where other 3600 in my price range seem to be Cas 18+
  • Would CAS 16 3200 be better than CAS 18 3600 (or is it more complicated than that?)?
  • What would you advise?
Sorry for so many questions, I knew a lot about this stuff in the 80's when I built my first PC but have got out of touch. btw I also intend to use a Samsung EVO 970 500GB NVMe for storage.

Cheers

PS - It doesn't really matter but I would rather not have lights on my RAM
:)

Yes. These are the OcUK own brand. But that doesn't make them budget. These are the opposite. Highly premium binned guaranteed Bdie high quality sticks.

They have good CL16 timings for 32Gb sticks and a lifetime warranty.

I have the 3200MHz CL14 version which I run at 3600MHz CL14.

Trust me these are high quality.

Hopefully someone else chimes in to confirm.
