Tumbled 3D mark score!

I have just run 3D mark 06.

On original shipped drivers, with CPU clocked at 3.2GHz, and 8800GT at 720MHz core I got 13,000ish.

On new drivers from NVidia, wait for it




7250!!!!!

Ouch!

Any ideas?

Did you uninstall the old drivers first, or just slapped the new drivers on top?

look on cpuz and see if the pcie lane is running at 16x or 1x

make sure your old drivers are all completely gone.

Slapped new drivers over old ones, never caused a problem before!

PCi is running x16

get rid of all your drivers and install the new ones on their own.

i don't know why you bothered with the shipped drivers at all tbh.

Has your overclock stayed at 3.2 on your cpu or has it gone back to stock?

Overclock is running 3.25GHz, just changed driver on graphics card from a Beta to a standard whql certified one. The score has gone back to 13500.

Won't complete the 3D mark routine at 720MHz core on 8800GT, will complete at 675MHz!

Bit weird as games play fine at 720!

Anyways, it was a dodgy driver. 169.12 (Beta Crysis optimized) I think.

Am on 169.25 whql cert. NVidia standard.

Has fixed it.
