"Tuner" type racing game?

I want a racing game along the lines of NFS Underground 2, for the laughs. Not a sim, not a serious racing game. I've played NFSU2, NFS:MW, NFS Carbon, NFS Pro Street (or rather, I didn't, because the demo was nowhere near fast enough to play on my system), Juiced and some piece of dung that I have thankfully managed to forget.

Any others in the same vein? X2 [email protected], 7900GT@550/765, 2GB DDR@208, so it should be OK for most things.

I want the usual - start with a stock little car, work up to a variety of cars with a variety of vulgarly ostentatious mods. Online mode would be fun, so I could flaunt my ostentatious cars to other people.

there's always Juiced 2 but from all accounts, I probably wouldn't bother. Think the NFS series have this genre about wrapped up tbh even if Pro Street is garbage. You could try Flatout 2, very good fun. Not really street racing but you can mod your car.

NFS: Underground 2 is the best of the tuner-type games imo, From there they just went downhill.

im on a similar system and juiced 2 runs maxxed out happily at 30fps limit on the demo....it is MUCH better than the 1st one too

Underground 2 is still the daddy tho

Midnight Club 3 Dub edition - you can get some pretty good tuner cars on that.

cant agree more, NFS is so rubbish now, there was one game called redline quite a few years back, you could strip the engine down pretty well, if it was looked into better could have had far more and better potential

I'm don't think Midnight Club 3 is out on PC, so you might like to take a look at MC2. Pretty average game, I got to about 66% completion (few races into Japan) and got stuck/bored.

I also tried Street Racing Syndicate which was very strange, it's got a UI that feels like something out of the 90s/DOS era, yet the actual game looks kinda OK. A lot more tuning than MC2, but the gameplay is pretty poor. The premise of the game seems to be you drive around impressing these birds and if you do well then you get to watch videos of them stripping off and dancing etc.
