hi,

i build my new system today and placed a tuniq 120 heatsink on the processor. i am still unsure as to whether the heatsink is meant to be a specific way round at all? ive checked the temp of the cpu within the hardware monitor in the bios and its around 38 which apprently is a little high for such a hefty heatsink. bearing in mind i also have an antec 900 case.

the motherboard i have is a p5b. and the cpu fan lead out of the tuniq heatsink only fits 3 of the motherboards cpu fan 4 pin connector. is this ok?

The point on the end of the curves on the side of the HS should be pointing down. This is provided you haven't switched the fan orientation means the air is drawn from the front of the case across the HS and pushed out of the back. If that makes sense, if it doesn't i'll post a piccy up of my setup.

Just which ever way round the heatsink fits. As long as the fan is pulling air from your case to the rear fan (or the top fan if you have one). Mine 'points' up and exhausts to the rear. Couldnt put it the other way round because of the capacitors on the mobo. What processor is it? 38 at idle seems fine to me.

at the moment mine is side on. is that a bad idea? although there is a rear fan almost next to the heatsink, not sure if this is an exhaust though, i will check. but either way i take it the consensus is to have it pointing up or down right?

any chance of a pic?

its a conroe e6600

thanks

I also have recently fitted a Tuniq, my case is a Lian Li PC-60b Plus which has the rear fan as intake directly onto the Tuniq so mine 'points' down

My temps are not so good though with idle around 45, and load about 60, I think I may have to remount :(

Oh, and I also have an e6600
