Hi folks

I am thinking about getting the Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler but need to know if the fan speed controller (that it comes with) can be fixed to the back of the pc instead of the front. Does it come with one of those metal plates that fit at the back of the pc where a pci card may go?

I have no room to fit the controller at the front of my pc, even if I did I would not be able to close the door on my Coolermaster Comos case.

oh, and btw...is this fan quite even on hi speed?

Cheers:):)

It can be fitted to the back yes,it comes with a end plate(like all cards have)held in place with a single screw and come with an ajustable knob,as for the noise i would have to say it's pretty quiet compaired to a vantec tornado which sounds like a b52 bomber flying over the house:D

I have mine on the lowest speed running my Q6600 at 3GHz (small cramped case) and I can't hear the PC from a couple of feet away.

Best sub-£50 'accessory' I've bought

But ye it comes as a PCI slot thing

On highest speed it sounds like a Jet engine imo though.

Thanks for the replay guys but since I posted this I am now thinking about a water cooling setup. I have since found out that the Tuniq Tower 120 requires that you remove the mobo, if thats the case I mays well remove it and go with water...i have always though about water cooling but now I might just do it

Thanks again for your reply anyways:):):)

You have to take the mobo out to fit the backplate cos the Tuniq is after all a giant piece of heavy metal, I think setting up water cooling would probably be more effort than that, I think anyway.

Oh yeah and the fan is very loud when you crank it up to max, my [email protected] requires it on max when I'm playing games otherwise it starts going into the 70's, but it is summer eh.

Just got one of these coolers and planning on a similar overclock. What sort of temperatures are you getting?

Cheers.

Mine loads in the 70s.

I have a very small cramped case and everything is absolutely silent though, no high speed fans and only a couple of low speed case fans (one front one back).

It's never gone into the 80s and for normal use + gaming mostly stays in the 60s.

With a bigger case and more airflow it should sit in the 50-60s at load with a similar overclock to mine.

Hope this helps

The fan is loud on high but the tower can even be passive - i see no change in temps whether i have it on full or its lowest setting (inaudible, or at least quieter than other components, up to about 40%). Awesome bit of kit tho if I was buying again i might consider the TRUE due to the lack of accesibility of the motherboard under the TT once it's in there (i.e. where my 4pin power connector is is a b***h to get to with the TT in there, but this was only an issue cos i decided to tidy up my cables).

Best thing to do with the TT is whip out that fan and put in a Yateloon / Nexus fan. Much better temps, and just let the motherboard control the speed.
