Ive got my new motherboard today, ive managed to tear off the backplate off the old mobo with some force, took me about 20 minutes. I think ive messed the back of the mobo up trying to get it off, got a few scratches on it :/

Anyway, theres now no sticky rubber bit on the backplate so its just bare metal, should i need something inbetween the backplate and the mobo, im just worried that the metal of the backplate would act as a conducter and might short something out ?

Ye did the same thing when I upgraded my motherboard. After tearing apart at the backplate, most of the foamy stuff was left on my old mobo like :p.

I just screwed it in and it seems to be working fine for me...No problems with the bare backplate as of yet...

Hi, when I did that to a similar backplate I used a piece of thin card held inplace with masking tape to insulate, then used the same tape to hold it to the motherboard until I'd fixed the heatsink to it...
