my fan is only going at 500rpm which is giving my 80C on my e6300!!! how can i increase the speed (i lost the switch thing to turn it up).

If your connecting it to the motherboard, there should be an option in the bios to disable something to with fan speed. I had it on my evga 680i. It should then spin full speed

You could try using a fan controller, but youd have to buy that.
80c at what clock speed ? Mines at 500rpm and dosnt get anywhere near that temperature on an E2140 @3.2ghz....so i think you may have put the heatsink on badly.

my pc was playing up yesterday and wouldn't boot, so i took everything out and put it back, but now im getting 70C temps idle @ 2.7ghz (it used to do 3.2ghz @ 40C), i haven't got any spare thermal paste if thats the problem :\

I have to put the fan power connector into a different fan header other than the CPU one on the mobo as I had the same problem.

Also make sure the fan settings in the BIOS are set to off or select the temperatures they come on at to the lowest in my case <25.

Check the fan controller that came with the Tuniq and see if its working properly.

fan settings are off and it's still 500rpm, core temp is 70C, but everest + speed fan + bios say its 128C which can't be right :\

it must be becasue its mounted without thermal compound. if the heatsink isnt getting hot, its becasue its not transfering the heat from the cpu to the heatsink. I'd get some TC and reseat it

also, in the bios, you should reduce temperatures for the fan control so it goes up to 100% at a lower temperature. 12v is usually 100%. Where is your fan controller?

i dont think increasing fan speed will work, (the heatsink isnt even warm), it has thermal paste on but its ~8-12 months old, i took off the heatsink, then reattached it as i havent got spare paste and wanted to get the pc running, ill run it at 1.86ghz for now till i get some new paste then

id keep an eye on the temperatures, thatll kill your CPU in no time at those temps!

PC world sell thermal paste if your desperate, its not as good as Arctic Silver or MX2, but it'll save your cpu whilst you order some better paste. make sure you clean the cpu and heatsink well before applying new paste, use alcohol or something
