Morning folks!

I'm starting to set up my new rig, and I've been reading through the manual for my tuniq tower, and I'm a little confused.

Here's a link for it: http://www.tuniq.com.tw/Cooler Info/images/Tower 120 Manual 01-08Web.jpg

Now, it says in step 2 for 775 installation to place the heatsink on the CPU core as shown in the diagram (see link). Step 3, insert screws through the 775 springs. Step 4, apply a thin layer of thermal compound onto the processor.

Now to me, it seems like step 4 should come before step 2, no? Am I a being rediculously dumb, or getting myself confused or something?

Cheers,
Tom

Nope, the manual is ****. I think the only reason to do that is to make sure the back plate is on the right place. I have a tuniq, and I seemed to remember the manual being a bit daft.

Make sure you have the backplate stuck on correctly (it doesn't come off easily) and then proceed as common sense suggests.

Damn you're right there I got mine on, then wanted to remove it to put the cooler onto another system and wtf, I nearly snapped the motherboard trying to remove the backplate!!

and let that be a lesson; dont remove the protective stuff from the sticky pad and it wont stick to the motherboard! its not like you need it to when its bolted down anyway
