Hey guys,

I still haven't got round to ordering one of these coolers, but I will be soon

One quick question though before I do: if I change the standard fan, will I be required to do any wire cutting/joining etc?

I know the stock fan is hooked up to a speed controller, hence the question

Nope, the speed controller is optional, and just has the plugs. You can just unscrew the top, and the fan assembly slides out. And then unscrew the fan and its done.
