Hi all

I have a good old fashioned tuniq tower 120 sat on a q9550 in an asus rampage mobo @ 2.8

I am having real problems with this thing

Idle:
Fan full blast:34-39 (across cores)
Fan turned right down 34 - 39

100% load
Fan full blast: 44-51 (across cores)
Fan turned right down 46-54

The CPU block is cool to the touch at all times

I have just resat the thing with IC Diamond paste. Tightened the screws till they pretty much could go no further.

When I over clock the thing the temps jump up to 70 - 75 and again the fan speed does not seem to make any real differencing and the cpu block never seems to get warm.

What is going on here?

thanks guys..

I am starting to wonder if the cooler is actually in complete contact with the cpu.. I am sure that if I took the fan off the thing would not actually get any warmer..

in fact... that is tonights experiment...

i washed the thing a few weeks back and dried it with a hair dryer and that thing got so hot in about 30 seconds that i dropped it!

so why is that that a 70 degree CPU cant even make it slightly warm to the touch.

as soon as I can persuade my damned raid 5 array to rebuild (eta 3 days!!!) I will do some experiments.

thanks for the suggestions.
