Lo all

I have been following varous CPU HSF threads on here and eventually bought a AC7 Pro due to cost concerns - Mistake!!. After 3 reseats and using AS5 it does no better than the stock cooler but is louder under load :( .

But dont really want to discuss the AC7 as its been talke to death else where  .

going to invest in a Tuniq tower :D as i cannot find anything bad said about them.

I have the room in the case but wanted to check it would fit with my Mobo, Asus P5WDG2 Pro. Only checking as a few people have had issues with caps getting in the way of the mounting bracket :(

Has any one fitted this cooler to this Mobo ?

cheers

Sorry to hijack the thread, did not want to stant another.

Will the Tuniq Tower fit ok on the evga 680i board,as running stock at mo. Case is the Silverstone 09.

Just a small point - make sure your case is big enough, with no obstructions, its bigger than... say a kilo of sugar as a rough guideline :p

Tuniq may have a problem with that mobo-case combination. The EVGA CPU socket is very close to the edge of the mobo, the Tuniq will fit on the mobo, but it will be very close to the TJ09 roof fans. (maybe only 2-3cm between Tuniq and fans)

So at a guess then,i would think the Zalman big coolers would also be tight to to fans, well im picking up the Silverstone TJ09W today, just waiting for my new evga board to be returned from O/C at it went faulty, and i'll have to meaasure up...
Not so simply this pc building, but good fun.. lol

tuniq, sycnthe ninja even the zalman 9500 would suit you....

check out the B grade section or the private selling section and you get a deal...

cant go wrong with the first two IMO..

goodluck

It fits on my BFG 680i mobo, that looks the same as the evga as they are both NVidia reference with near-identical cooling.

You'll love the tuniq, excellent cooler, as already stated keep the fan below 1600rpm and its pretty quiet, another tip dont remove the sicker cover on the backplate as it really is a pain to get off your mobo should you need to.

You mean the sticker covering the sticky stuff?

What is it? A sticky pad that's like a blu-tac alternative, or some plastic-like stuff that binds to the mobo under the processors heat?

I wouldn't want a backplate stuck to my mobo when I get my Tuniq

Its just some black foam with sticker like glue on it. It sticks very well & is a nightmare to remove. I just dont see the need for the back plate to be stuck down like that.

Yeah, its ridiculous. You might need a friend to help you install the cooler if you dont stick the backplate on tho

I stuck mine on simply because I realised it would be difficult to install otherwise. May regret that if I ever remove it, but can't see that is likely anytime soon. It's a super cooler!

The reason they put it there is probably so it's easier to keep it as a one-man job, rather than needing four hands :p

Alotta people have seem to have heat trouble with the ACF7 lately, including me. I wonder what's up? Seems strange after the great reviews that made me get one in the first place.

me too, but i'm at 48c on stock Ghz, the stock cooler was actually BETTER, so i'm gonna have a go at reseating that tonight lol

top tip: reviews mean squat compared to your own experiences.

At full speed, however, the CNPS9700LED is noisier. In our Intel system, with the fan at full speed, the overclocked and overvolted 3.96GHz Pentium 4e was 12C cooler than it was with the reference cooler. This is good, but still some way off the 19C achieved by the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro.

where do they bench? iceland?! lol

Another hijack - will this be OK on a DS3 in a PC7-Plus? I'm looking to buy a Tuniq tomorrow (payday).

Also I'll have to get the paste off the CPU from the AC7... am I best removing the CPU and sticking the protective cover on while I do this (seems silly to do it in situ on the mobo IMO). I guess cotton buds and the ArctiClean Removal kit is best for this.

Is the stock paste on the Tuniq worth replacing with AS5? I've seen several posts saying there's naff all difference.

Also what mode are people using for fan control on the Tuniq?

Cheers!

Agrred :D I'm really happy with it, I keep mine on FULL WHACK and can hardly hear it through my P180! It's awesome.....It was a bugger to install though, needed two of us but my temps speak for themselves. I've overclocked my E6300 to 2.45Mhz and under load the tuniq will not let it go above 50 Degrees C . I'm going to slack the timings off my RAM and push it up to 3Ghz and see how the Tuniq comes then, if it goes over 56 I'll back off I think
