Turbo diesel for £2,500?

Hey,

I'm looking for a new runaround. I was using a Proton Satria GTI, but the insurance costs (group 16) and the silly MPG is eating my money.

So looking for a diesel fo some kind, not that fussed about speed obviously, but a nice bit of torque would be nice.
I'd like the usual mod cons and the car to be as new as possible?

What are my options?

Well at the moment I get about 150 miles to £20, which is okish, but then I look at it, that the car isn't very fast and I'm not driving it quickly at all, so to me it does not warrant paying that much money in fuel. Also the fact the car is group 16 insurance I'd like to change car, so it's not purely down to petrol consumption.

Well I just wanted the best possible MPG and I was under the impression I'd get that with a Diesel!

Well it's both I want a cheaper insurance car and decent MPG with the new car!
NVM!

Anyway, I have 1 NCB, I am 21, pay just over £1k fully comp.
But I also insure another group 15 car, so it soon racks up insurance wise.
