Turion64 X2 VS Centrino/C2D

When looking for a laptop, which would be the better processor to go for? Assuming that both are the same/similar clock speeds. Am I right to assume that Intel are currently the leaders in laptop processors as well as desktop processors? Im looking for a laptop with a T7300 or similar and have seen a few AMD equipped laptops for lower prices than the Intels.

So no chance of pushing the T7300 from 2GHz to the 2.2GHz of the T7500 on a Dell Vostro 1700 then?

Would you recommend spending the extra money on the extra 200MHz?
Or is it possible to upgrade a laptop CPU such as the C2D's?
