Ovi Maps doesnt have voice prompts, unless thats a new version.
It does but in the past you needed to pay for voice and proper navigation. (I believe)
You mean like Nokia were forced to follow Android?
Android's free navigation is limited to the US. Nokia sells very few phones in the US. I doubt Nokia would give the whole world free navigation just to compete with Android in the US.
Nokia bought one of the two map providers (NavTeq) a couple of years ago. This news is a knock-on from that more likely.
Does it require a live data connection to work?
i know Ovi Maps comes with the N900 - i know this is Symbian free voice nav but is there any indication that the N900/Maemo will follow suit?![]()
Only certain Symbian phones are supported with the new free software at the moment.
