Turning fan speed down on 8800GTS

I don't use my computer for gaming but it has an 8800GTS and the fan is rather loud.

According to gpu-z it seems to sit at 60% fan speed.

1) Is there something I can use to lower the fan speed to maybe 30%?

2) Would it be safe to do the above?

I think Rivatuner can modify fans speeds on 8800's. It is normally safe to do, however, there may be an auto setting, and if you are not using heavy graphics, it should drop to maybe 20-30%.
