Without getting over-complicated, what is the easiest (and cheapest!) way of turning my current set of lenses for my 350d into Macro lenses? I have seen these extension tube things, as well as lots of other types of things on Ebay but, once again, I am confused.

If someone could give me a little help it would be appreciated, current lenses are the 18-55mm kit lens, 50mm F/1.8 Mk II and 70-200mm F/4 L.

Extension tubes will allow you to focus closer.

The only way of getting true macro (1:1 or larger) is with a macro lens.

Almost right ;)
Take a 50mm and stack it with 50mm of tubes and the minimum focus is closer but also the reproduction ratio is a real 1:1. Stick on more tubes and the ratio is greater than 1:1 Same applies for whatever length of lens you're working with IIRC

I have a macro attachment you can have for a tenner or so
shortens the focusing distance of your 52mm lenses,
very impressive for the money
bought it, loved it, then bought a sigma f2.8 105mm for about 1/2 price and it's macro too, so doubt I'll get much use out of it now tbh
can send you some samples if you want

You could try a +4 close up filter. They're not brilliant optically but they work ok. Cheap too :)

I use a Kood Pro Series PRPCU4. You'll need adapter rings and mount as well but they're pretty cheap. I think I paid about £15 for everything.

hi, i just use a lens that screws onto the end of my kit lens (the same 18-55mm as yours). it is really small and takes only a few seconds to screw on. have a look at http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17541217&highlight=real+macro , these are some 350d. the great thing was that it only cost me £10, i think that it has 10x magnification. go to http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/58mm-MACRO-10...598343095QQcategoryZ30070QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem , this is the same thing i got off ebay.

hope this helps, david. :)
