Afternoon,

I have a question. The first is about battery power. Do the controllers use much power if they are left on? Also, do they use more when I power down the PC and they are 'seeking' for a connection.

I ask as over the years I've knackered the battery containers on my 2 controllers from removing them every time I want to turn them off. I've got a couple of new controllers and not sure how to go about it now as I don't want to break these ones.

They go off after 10mins of inactity on PC, I just pull the rechargeable battery packs out or just let them shut off. rechargeable battery is still gd even after using 4 years lol.

I'm another one who just quickly unclips and clips back in the battery pack. Takes a second and have always done it for both PC and Xbox.

But, my the springs in the battery packs become weak and then as a result cause random controller disconnects. At least I've found anyway.

They won't become any more of less weak compared to leaving the batteries in and locked in place anyway. It matters little and isn't a problem that I've ever seen mentioned.

Have you tried just stretching the springs? Seemed to fix my 360 controller when that had the random disconnecting issue.

And you don't need to completely remove the pack to turn it off, moving it just a few mm will do the same thing and will likely cut down on wear and tear.

I pop the battery pack and have done for 5 years now as when you shut down the PC and it does the flashing seeking thing mine does it till the battery dies. though when it has a normal connection to the PC it will time out in ten mins of inactivity.

Yeah don't think any of us are talking about completely removing battery pack, like as been said it's more lifting it a couple off mm just to cut power! Again you could try stretching the springs or failing that you can get new holders from the bay for a couple of quid :)
