Turning off monitor sound

Hi.

I've recently bought a new monitor which (unfortunately) have sound speakers built in. It connects to my GPU via HDMI. I think this is where the issue comes in. It automatically plays sound through the monitor now instead of my Logitech 2.1 system. Any ideas how to get around this issue?

Right click the sound icon on your task bar.
Click playback devices, and set your speakers as default device.

That should solve it had I had the right adapter

I was hoping I could get the HDMI to stop ****** around. I'll go have a look today to see if I can find one.

Normal green 3.5 jack

If I set it to 'speakers' in control panel only the bass plays. Not a peep from the speakers. And I know they work.

Completely disable the monitor speakers, right click -> disable

Disable and the default fell to 'speakers'. Still no sound from the actual speakers, just the base.

Shivy, I'll be honest and mug myself off here. It wasn't plugged in correctly. I've just been through every connection and noticed the base speaker bit weren't pushed in properly. It works fine now.

I was fixing my brothers PC, to which he had 2 jack leads.

I spent ages plugging this one lead in and out and fiddling with settings, to find out it was connected to nothing!
