turning off subs in WMP

i have an mkv movie and when it plays it plays with subs, i right click on the main screen and it tell me subtitles are off, but they still appear by deafult it seems.

is there a hidden option to disable them?

They might be hard encoded into the actual video stream.

I get it too. VLC sees that it's a sub file and lets me turn it off but WMP still wants to show it. I haven't found a fix yet.

Do you have a codec pack installed, of any kind? Check the hidden items in the notification area while WMP is playing the file. You might have VobSub installed (green arrow). If so right click it and choose None for the subs language while WMP is still open. I often find (especially with MKVs) that VobSub will over-ride WMP's settings.

That said, just use MPC-HC. It's superior in every way tbh.

Oh and as above, it could just be that the subs are hard-coded. Only one way to find out.

i find that with WMP a lot of options to select language/subs etc is not visible until you fullscreen the video then wheny ou right click in the video you get the menu with these options in
