Turning on second monitor

When I turn on my second monitor after windows has loaded, it would seem my primary and secondary start flashing for 5 seconds before going blank for 3-5 seconds then showing both displays as normal. Normally when I turn my second monitor on, I get one flash and the both monitors display as they should. Does anyone know how to stop this from happening as this didn't happen until 2 months ago?

I get the same on my work laptop, not really sure why. How are the monitors connected, I'm wondering if in my case it's because I'm using a USB-C to Displayport cable rather than a 'normal' connector, meaning windows has to faff about detecting USB device.

Displayport on both monitors. Have used display on these monitors since i got them 6 months ago. Sometimes it can cause my game to crash if i forget to turn my second monitor on before i load the game.

doesnt do that on mine
both display port
the primary monitor does a sort of shrink thing
then pops back to full size and thats it
maybe one of windows updates causing it?

My primary display shrinks (1 second) then flickers on and off 6 times. It then goes blank and resumes as normal. This seems to be an issue with gsync and dsr which i both use. So i have to deal with it

Mine only does the shrink bit
No flicker on and off at all no goes blank either
I have gsync on but not dsr
Would have to look tomorrow to see if dsr makes it do same as yours

My monitors do that too, sometimes. Other times one will have a randomly daft desktop resolution and I have to turn it off and on again. And then sometimes it’ll be fine for a while. I gave up long ago trying to troubleshoot it.
