turntable through AV reciever

I have a Marantz SR4400 which is fine for my HTPC, 360, DVD etc. I would like to hook up a turntable as well. It doesn't have phono sockets on the back, I have tried CD but get virtually no sound (very very faint). Is this possible?

You need a phono amp such as the NAD PP2 which goes between the turntable and your existing amp.

You'll need a phono pre-amp to go between the turntable and the amp.

can you not hook the turntable upto a mixer then to the amp, its how i do mine, never had problems there, unless you mean your av receiver has no phono sockets then just ignore me!
