Now am sure many people have tried this but i thought id try be helpful (Perhaps)
Instead of buying these premium led lighting i went for a simpler approach which allows more flexibility in the sense i can add as many as i wish not be restricted by cable lengths etc.
What you will need
Tutorial is simple as this..
Take either your 3 pin fan connector or your 4 pin molex and cut the wires and strip the end insulation, Do the same with the wires on the SMD LED Strip.
Take the exposed cores of the wires and twist them together from plug > Strip. So black to black and red to red.
Apply solder to exposed cores to secure them together well and wrap in insulation tape (Wrap individually don't let the red and black touch at all else it will short out)
Test and apply lighting to were you want it
This is my results on a 12LED SMD Strip in Ice white
I aint sure if a tutorial exists like this but i was just doing mine properly today and thought id make one and share.
Added benfits of using a 3 pin fan plug like i did. My controller can adjust the brightness and turn them on/off too as LED's are dimmable on these strips
Total cost for me was about 1.50
Simples!
Instead of buying these premium led lighting i went for a simpler approach which allows more flexibility in the sense i can add as many as i wish not be restricted by cable lengths etc.
What you will need
- Soldering Iron
- Solder
- Fireproof surface
- 4 Pin molex (With only red and black wires 12v) OR 3 pin fan connector with red and black wires (12v)
- 30cm LED SMD Strip 3528 (You can get these for a pound in any colour you wish on that bidding place)
- Insulation Tape
Tutorial is simple as this..
Take either your 3 pin fan connector or your 4 pin molex and cut the wires and strip the end insulation, Do the same with the wires on the SMD LED Strip.
