Tutorials section

I've been working on my tutorial/guide today. I was going to go all out with theory but in the end decided to do the tutorial by actually modding one of my own LED fans. Should be ready soon.

I will also do one for the 16x LED fan mod I have planned and will have that wired with a switch and it's own molex supply so it's full bright all the time.

Please, please, please, please send me this, even if the tutorials section doesn't transpire.

I want to run the LEDs in my fans at full wack, and preferably add a few more in, but keep them behind filters so they'll stand out, but it'll look soft. :)

I also want it wired up so that it has one of those switches you push down and it clicks on, with an LED in the switch so it glows. This will (hopefully) put the fans at full speed, and all the lights on.

It'll basically act like a turbo button.

Looks like a plan!

Just need to get some time, some money, some wires, some LEDs, a soldering iron, some solder, a dremel, the switch, and a man who understands circuitry better than me. :P

I'm guessing two seperate circuits are required? One with the LEDs and providing the full 12v to the fans, and the other with no LEDs and providing 5v/7v. Lovely.

I could show you how to knock up something like these for next to nothing.

Think I'll have a go at doing it as a tutorial anyways.

Gonna have to get me some of those switch panels. I like the idea of a turbo/bling switch though and yes you'd need two circuits. Sounds like an intersting mini project.

Not seen any tutorials up except mine. I actually had fun doing them and would do more. In fact I'm contemplating under motherboard lighting.

Read through yours and was very impressed. I, for one, would love to see more of the sort.

I consider myself a case-modding noob and was able to follow it really easily, and I like the idea of getting ideas from tutorials as well as seeing the finished products in the showcase thread. It gives you two perspectives: here's what's possible, here're the many techniques that can be applied to achieve those ends. I remember there was talk of having a build log subsection (I think it was abandoned), but tutorial threads would fit wonderfully in such a subsection if there were enough to make use of it.

There is a build log sub-section

I think a tutorial section would be a great idea, the moderators should definately make one.

Yeah totally +1 ... ummm ... where am I again ? and what are we voting for ?

and RJK .. is Swiss Cheese the slightly damp stuff ? in that case then YUP .. absolutemon

Sounds good, just took a few pics of some cable management in my antec 1200 and some wiring which I could turn into a small tutorial. :)
