Trying to find an old tv advert from a few years ago! Maybe in the 1980's!

The advert was about a man who fed up with rubbish on UK tv, he's watching an australian soap (like neighbours) so he goes and buys a diy sat dish to watch more channels. He turns on the tv ONLY to get the same australian soap but dubbed in Spanish. LOL!

The name of the dog in this fake soap I think was muffy. (mentioned in fake soap in English and Spanish)

I think it must have been an ad for beer (i.e carling, fosters etc) or a cigar advert like hamlet. My money was on a beer ad but I can't find any trace of it.

It sounds stupid but as a few friends remember the ad but have no idea what it was for it has now become a MISSION Impossible. :) I must find out as it's now doing my head in. :D

Thanks.

Not convinced it's Fosters at all. All the Fosters ads were Paul Hogan things back in the eighties.

EDIT: Been having a look around because you've got me wondering now too. But I can't help but think that some of the best adverts were Hamlet ads.

My God I'd forgotten how funny they were!

I would love to find the Fosters global warming ad, saw it at a cinema and I assume it was cinema only as it had swering in it

A lot of the 80's Fosters adds were done by Paul Hogan, could it be a Castlemaine XXXX add?

I remember me Dad drinking Castlemaine XXXX when i was a lad and seeing the adverts.... well funny guess im searching you tube for them now LOL

Edit....

PMSL at this

Many thanks for your help. It was only a guess at late 1980's, could be 90's but I remember it was a long time ago. :)

I did think it may have been a Castlemaine XXXX ad, but as I remember the ad but can't remember a catch phrase at the end like most beer/ cigar ads have i'm not sure what it was. Man buying a sat dish only to get the same programs in Spanish feels like a beer ad.

It will be on my list of 1000 things to do before I die list. :) I will find out one day! :D

I do half remember this ad i have a image in my head of what it was like.... im sure i saw this on one of the Commercial Breakdown TV shows years ago - don't think it was a UK tv ad more likely from abroad somewhere I too can't remember what it advertised..... with it being about Sat Dish you would be talking mid 80's to early 90s when Sat dishes became afordable to normal people.......

Cinema only and for Fosters Ice:

It involved pictures of various natural calamaties such as Hurricanes and Droughts and how mankind is damaging the planet and the ernest male voice-over is telling us to do something immediately a. We can form a protect-the-earth support group,
b. We can write to our MP
c. We can change our lifestyles

or d. WE can say B******S to it all and crack open a six-pack of
Foster's Ice !!

It had the stupid kangeroo in it

:D

Dammit, this is turning into a good thread even though it isn't helping the OP.
Anyone remember Nick Camen taking his clothes off at the launderette in 1985 for the Levi ad? It was huge at the time.

But here is the original I'd say.

Very British and a damn sight sexier too thanks to sock suspenders! :D
