Hello

I am planning to get a 4K TV during Black Friday. I mainly want to use it for watching shows, movies and playing some video games from a console or PC. Games would mainly be couch co-op games etc.

I currently have my eyes on the Samsung JU7000 as it has HDR, it's flat and has low input lag and pixel response time for gaming. Seems to fit into my budget which is about £1000.

Has anyone here used the JU7000 and what are your thoughts?

I am also unsure it would be worth getting a TV now as OLED seems to be the future of 4K HDR TVs, so maybe best to save up and get a OLED next year?

I could also use advise on an ideal sound setup. I think I may just get a sound bar to begin with and then maybe upgrade to 5.1 next year.

General advice around here will always be OLED>4k, and I agree.

However, there are many things to consider like screen size, budget, what you use it for.

What screen size are you looking at? I'm assuming 48" given the price you've mentioned, which is on the borderline of 4k being worthwhile, depending on how far away you sit (let alone the lack of source material etc.).

But on the other hand, I believe the cheapest OLED TV you can get in the UK currently is the LG 55EC930V, which is 55", curved and £1449.

I would have thought OLED will be coming to smaller sets before long, so if you can wait for the next round of releases then that might be best.

The JU7000 is a well specced TV for the price but it doesn't have HDR.

Looked into it more after your post. It apparently can read HDR content after a firmware update but the result is more miss than hit.

Maybe I should just get a decent/good 1080p screen until 4K OLED HDR comes down in price and when theres more 4K/HDR content.

As has been said, the JU7000 cannot really claim to be HDR. I have a JS9000, which also purports to be HDR 'ready' or similar, and yet -even a couple of models up the range - there are doubts expressed.......most suggest only the JS9500 can truly claim, due to its superior backlight approach etc.

That all said, the JU7000 is a decent TV :)

I caved in and went ahead and got the JU7000 55".

I did get it from a store on Black Friday but when I set it up at home it was faulty so had to return it. It was the last one in store so have to wait for home delivery now. Should arrive next week
