TV as a monitor issue

Hi guys,

I'm having a bit of a nightmare running HDMI from my PC to my TV. I'm using the rig below and the TV is a sharp LC-40SH340K. I can get a picture and using overscan it fills the screen but the picture is so blurry. I've heard it's a common problem but usually rectified by renaming then inputs (no feature to do that on this TV).

In the manual it says that you can only use the VGA input for PC but I do not have any VGA ports on the 290 and it only has the DVI standard (one without the extra 4) so I can't use a DVI > VGA adapter to solve this. I'm just trying to work out the best solution.

So far I've tried one of these.

This gave a washed out look and while playing games it would keep getting and losing signal. I had to change the pixel format to RGB 4:4:4 to get that to fit properly as well. It was only £8 so could have just been a Chinese poor bit of kit, I don't know.

My next idea is to try one of these:

(I have no idea if this will rectify the fact that the TV wants the input coming though the VGA port though)

I have the other option of going for one of these

or one of these....

(Happy to run VGA if needs be)

Just wanted some advice really and to see if anybody else has had similar issues and found the ideal fix.

Cheers (sorry for wall of text)

So are you saying you have no HDMI input on your TV? If it does then AMD cards carry sound over DVI and they used to come with a dongle that looks like this:

Plug into one of the DVI ports and plug the HDMI cable into the back. Easy.

The one I have came with an old card its still got an ATI logo on it but its worked with all subsequent cards.

Not sure about 3rd party products though you'll probably have to hook up a separate audio cable.

If you have a DP port then one of these will do I'm using one myself (no DVI ports on a Fury X)

If you have no HDMI port on the TV then ignore this...

I'm not to worried about the audio mate, I have ran a separate cable under the floor for that previously. I'm just worried that the TV will still be receiving the input through the HDMI port causing the blur again. I wish local stores stocked these kind of items so I could give it a try.

EDIT - In reply to your edit, I'm still going to be using HDMI into the TV though, that's the bit I'm unsure of. I don't think the TV likes PC > HDMI but I was wondering if going DVI > HDMI > HDMI would rectify that.

I guess I could use a HDMI joiner to connect two HDMI males together and use a VGA cable from the box (see picture 3) straight into the TV. I will wait for some advice, somebody must have done something similar, reviews online are too mixed.

Thanks
