Ok this is for a TV not a monitor but I thought it may fall into the catagory, 2 weeks ago whilst watching TV it began to flash (strobing). The fault started as intermittent & then became more frequent to the point if there was an epileptic in the room it wouldve been dangerous.
I took it to a local repair shop & he said he fixed something on the intergrated circuit board ( I doubt he did anything) and charged me £70, the fault has since returned and I have taken it back to him but teh fault has not shown itself.
He has said he had the TV on test for 8 hrs with no fault and has done similar things for the last 5 days without showing a fault. He asked me do I switch it off at night & I said well its on standby & he said ah it could be a heat issue!! So this leads me to believe it a power board issue to what I sugested to him to start with!! I cant understand why he couldnt replace the caps on the powerboard even if they were not domed.
The thing that is bugging me is he is hankering for money, now for me its a no as he handed a TV back with the same fault.
You would expect a Samsung TV that cost nearly 600 quid 4 years ago to last longer than this as my older TV (8 years old) is still going strong.
Oh its not JP482 or JP484 jumper, not on this model, do the techies here think its the power board?
