Looking for some feedback if anyone has a tv bed? There seems to be lots from 500 quid upwards. Just wondering if there is anything between the cheap ones and if there worth while

I was looking at them for ages when I moved in to my new place, but eventually decided against it, as they really aren't all that. And the ones that are cost £1k upwards. Tried a few out and felt they were either too short for me or the end of them just looked wrong with the rest of the bed

Plus, I'd imagine once the novelty of "Look my tv comes up from the end of my bed" wears off, it would probably be more of an annoyance.

These have to be a candidate for the crappiest gimmicky things ever? Why would you want your TV to be right at the end of the bed? :p

I saw someone on the Plex forum who had a 27" iMac attached to the ceiling via a vesa ceiling arm running Plex and letting him surf in bed.
It was actually quite cool (a lot more elegant than it sounds!).
Unfortunately i cannot seem to find the post with the pic.

All the cheaper ones come without a tv and should fit any tv up to 32inch

amazing, and how much does that cost you?

my bed frame was £250 reduced from £400 and it's a faux leather ottoman large double with hydraulic lift. basically it helps you lift up the mattress to get into the underneath ottoman storage. it's solid and really well made, and the extra features like two hydraulic pistons, etc is why it was so expensive and you have to take these into account. i could have gotten the same thing but not ottoman for around £150.

my tv on the other hand is a 50" GT50 (top of the range plasma), which cost me £799.

my tv stand is 2 av cabinets from ikea stacked on top of each other, £40-£80.

total cost is roughly £1100 of which the TV takes up the bulk part of.

your going to end up paying huge money for a crap 32" tv, because no company makes their 32" tv's to anywhere near the same PQ or standard as their top end sets which start usually at 42" minimum, sometimes 50" minimum these days.

Why would you pay all that out and stack two AV cabinets?

the AV cabinet was bought for me as a wedding present, after construction i realised it was far too low down / small. my option then was to either sell it on or buy the same thing and stack it, it works rather well. you couldnt even tell it's 2 stacked on each other.

it's 2 of these

as you can see stacking them isn't bad because they are wooden and small yet long and stable.

i haven't included mattress price in the above, as that isn't included in the tv bed frame i would imagine, but mine was around £350 iirc and it was on sale in debenhams for £1200, i managed to get the last one in stock on clearance from a small online retailer.

We have a TV bed and love it,
Sky HD and a streaming laptop hooked up to it.

No games consoles lol missus certainly wouldn't allow that in the bedroom.

Ours is a new 26" LG with online services and one of the Genuine TV Bed's Armadillo.

The 26" can be upgraded to a 32" max as ours is King Size but i still wouldn't want anything like a 32" at the foot of the bed.

Gotcha :)

I wouldn't want anything much bigger than a 32" in my bedroom though.

you would be surprised how quickly you adjust

i went from a 21" CRT to a 32" widescreen hd ready lcd to a 42" 1080P plasma to a 50" GT50.

whenever i go round to mate's house who has a 42" in his bedroom it looks tiny.

mine isn't right at the foot but a foot away from the foot, as above you would be surprised how quickly you adjust.

in the future people will think 50" is small.

It entirely depends on viewing distance, too. Our bedroom tv is approximately 6 meters from our faces when we are sat up against the headboard. In this situation i actually find the old 42" plasma we currently use to be if anything too small for comfortable viewing. It certainly doesnt look very big at all.
