Hello,

I'm looking for a tv for my partner's dad, now he watches tv a lot, if anyone gets their money's worth, it's him.

Ideally on the lower end of the budget however I think he should upgrade rarther than a side step, he's currently got a Samsun NU7020 and if I'm honest, the picture and viewing angles were horrendous on it, horrible washed out screen as well.

I've seen a TCL55c745k for £500 but apparently they don't have the apps like now tv and 4od, 50d etc.. which he wants.

Any suggestions for that price range ?

I got a TCL mini led for 459 recently. Came with loads of apps (in relation to the apps but make sure you get either the android or the google tv version) as it has android tv so you should be fine with something like that. The one I bought was 144hz so you should be able to get cheaper without that. I would highly recommend the mini led as I found it great pq. :)

What's the reliability like on these low-end brands? I heard you don't want to buy a Hisense xLED without a 5y warranty?

What does he use the tv for?

General mixed use? Mainly sports? Reality TV? 4K movies etc? Gaming?

You could get a decent entry level FALD display for that sort of money at around 55-65" but there's almost always some sort of trade off with entry level mid range to budget screens.
