hello
wonder if someone could recommend me a tv card pleasse or a usb stick maby? to watch tv on ive seen some on a usb stick somewhere cant remember where, im getting a 4k monitor soonish if that causes any complication?

thank you very much

I've got a BlackGold BGT-3620 tuner. It's OK, but tbh, I've always been disappointed by TV cards, PCI / PCIE / USB. It's never been a completely smooth experience, no matter what.

Maybe look into a TV box instead, and hook it up to your monitor.

kworld, hauppauge, tbs all make tv sticks/pci/pce cards

the best you'll get are the hd freeview sticks/cards and you want one that does dvb-t2

I have a few kworld ones and tbh they work fine

What Windows are you running?

I bought a PCTV Systems DVB-T2 292e last year after my previous one gave up. Its decent and up until yesterday I was using Win 7 and Media centre where it worked very well.

However since upgrading to Windows 10 its not been 'smooth' with the departure of MC. The program it comes with works in Win 10 but its pretty clunky and I'm not a fan. Tried XBMC / Kodi and seemed like a lot of work to get it running.

Downloaded a program called Mediaportal last night that looked like it would work really well but cannot get it to run properly even though its meant to be supported on 10. Going to fiddle around tomorrow with it and maybe post on their forums.

I've got three BlackGold BGT-3620 dual DVB-T2 tuner cards and they've all worked flawlessly. Used them with Media Center up until Windows 7 and now, since switching to Windows 10, with Argus TV and Kodi. Never had any issues with them, not cheap though.

Give Argus TV a go as a backend with Kodi at the front - works extremely well.

I aint tried w10,no point if it doesn't have wmc anymore

best way round that would be to run a dual boot machine with win7 or win8.1 mce package

I still find it the best to record your programs with, the tv card bundled software works alright for me but the recording features can be hit or miss

ive read good things about the tbs dual dvb-t2 tuner cards,to expensive for me though, kworld are decent if your on a mild budget

With Windows 10, it is now possible to hack WMC back into it from Windows 8 and apparently it works fine.

Before this was available I spent ages looking at all manner of replacements prior to upgrading from Windows 7 and finally settled on ArgusTV as the back-end and using Kodi at the front. Argus is pretty simple to set up and works very well with Kodi. It's not quite as slick as WMC was but comes close and provides most of the same features.

I did contemplate using the hack to get WMC running again but figured I'd stick with what I have. There's no knowing whether that hack will continue to work in future as updates may kill it and there's also the question mark over how long MS will continue to provide guide updates.
